Friday – Circular Food Economy Day

A discussion that explores why the City of Guelph and County of Wellington has decided to focus on building a Circular Food Economy and how they are going to do it.
10:45 – Campus Compost Tour
Presented by Natalie Vasilvetsky, Composting Coordinator at the University of Guelph
Noon – Lunch
12:45 – Food Waste Panel
A discussion about food waste throughout different food producing locations.
1:45 – Slow Food Travel Panel
A discussion about developing a Taste of Place
Panelists include Bill Swan of Adventure Canada, Christina Mann of Taste Real,
Lynn Broughton of Taste Detours and Slow Food International

3:00– Slow Food in Canada Action Café
A breakout group session to answer the question:
How do we implement the Community Model?

Starting Venue: Gryphon Room, Delta Guelph Hotel
8:00 – Breakfast drop in at Delta Hotel in the Gryphon Room
9:00 – Taste Real Tour Departure from the Delta Hotel
A farm tour visiting 4 stops across Wellington County that follow Slow Food practices. Stops include Mapleton’s Organic Dairy, the Elora Farmers Market, Jewels Under the Kilt Nut Farm and Heartwood Cidery.
3:45 – Arrive back to the Delta Hotel
4:00 – 5:30: Slow Food in Canada Annual General Meeting, Mackinnon Building, University of Guelph
7:00 – Adventure Canada Reception and Gala Dinner at the Delta Guelph Hotel
