Slow Food in Canada would like to welcome four new members elected to its board after the recent elections held during its annual national conference in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, on May 1-4, 2014.
Joining the table for a 2-year mandate are Cam Tran, reviver of the Slow Food movement in Winnipeg, pastry chef and owner of Café Ce Soir in Winnipeg; Ingrid Jarrett, Convivium President for Slow Food Thompson Okanagan and Vice President of Business Development and General Manager for Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos in British Columbia; Christina Allain, a young activist from the Cocagne Acadie convivium and an enthusiastic food blogger aiming to promote the rich cultural history of the traditional Acadian recipes; and Benny di Zitti, founder of Slow Food Elora and an active advocate of sustainable development who has lived, worked and eaten his way through Europe, Africa, South-East Asia, North America and the Caribbean.
These members join Voula Halliday, Michael Howell, Valerie Lugonja, Janet Henderson and Heather Pritchard,who were re-elected and continue to participate as members of the board.
Additionally participating on the board are both the Slow Food international councillor for Canada, Sinclair Philip, and Laura Buckley, the Chair of the Canadian Ark of Taste Commission.
Slow Food in Canada is the coordination team of the Canadian Slow Food convivia network.
