France, Argentina, Brazil, India, Kenya, Uganda, Germany, Ecuador are joining the Slow Food Chefs’ Alliance. They will be officially presented at Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, from September 22 to 26 in Turin (Italy).
[Canada also joined the Chefs Alliance in 2016].
During the last edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto in 2014 there were just three countries involved in the Slow Food Chefs’ Alliance: today that number has risen to 15 countries around the world. This is an important achievement for the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity. The Slow Food Chefs’ Alliance is constantly growing with the aim of defending biodiversity and promoting Slow Food campaigns. There are now 700 chefs in the Alliance, all committed to using products from Slow Food projects (the Presidia, the Ark of Taste, the Food Communities and the Earth Markets) to deliver good, clean and fair food that is both respectful of the environment and animal welfare.
The Terra Madre Forum on the Slow Food Chefs’ Alliance (September 25 from 13:30 to 15:30, Torino Esposizioni, Corso Massimo D’Azeglio, 15) is an opportunity for the members of the Alliance to exchange experiences, ideas, solutions and opinions.
The forum is moderated by Guus Thjssen, Slow Food Chef’s Alliance Coordinator in the Netherlands and it will be attended by chefs and Alliance delegates from Albania, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, France, Germany, India, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco and Uganda.
In the conference at Carignano Theater When Chefs Side with Farmers (September 24 from 17:00 to 18:30) four famous European chefs: Cristina Bowerman, Michel Bras, Olivier Roellinger and Altin Prenga, talk about their role as spokespeople for culture, ecology and ethics. In addition, fourteen Italians chefs and five international chefs animate the Chefs’ Alliance Kitchen in the heart of the city (Piazza Castello). Each day of the event they prepare special dishes using products from Slow Food Presidia, representative of their territory and of the philosophy inspiring their work.
