Our first official month as a convivium saw us bringing into play many exciting changes and enhancements to our programming. It was a great kick-off to what is shaping up to be a very exciting year full of foodie and locavore fun! After our successful revitalization, the Slow Food Winnipeg convivium has already more than 30 members.
Along with our Facebook Page, our Twitter account is cruising right along with 800+ followers, and we just joined Meetup.com to help advertise our monthly events. In February we’re holding Made in Manitoba How-To Culinary training events each Sunday night at our President’s restaurant, check out our blog for more details.
Our January events included a Sobey’s Grocery Store tour with our membership chair/nutritional guru/Cross-Fit coach, Dr. Kristen Mitteness; a microbrewery tour and sampling at Winnipeg’s own and very popular Half Pints Brewing Co. along with a Slow Food chat with their brewmaster; and our month wrapped up with our first sponsored event at the newest VitaHealth Fresh Market featuring local Executive Chef Alfonso Maury of Prairie360 Restaurant, Winnipeg’s newest restaurant and leader in great, locavore meals.
You can read more about each of these events and what our members learned by scrolling through our past blog posts.
